What I didn't tell you is the photo is of just one of the shops of maid services with about 20 maids sitting waiting. Each agency has it's own uniform so there are 20 identical maids sitting all in a row. There's a whole 2 storeyed mall of them!!!! We're not staying in Orchard Rd you understand. Go further along the road and there's another string of them all sitting there eager for employment. So hundreds of maids. Which is why you send your daughter to school and make her study 24/7 . Now you'll understand Peter's euphoria. Ha, he can't even cope with the one maid he's got.
Off in search of the cat cafe today.

  1. At Changi Airport waiting for 17 hour flight to Dublin. Wonderful day in Singapore yesterday .Found Helix Bridge. Got Peter on Singapore Flyer with both eyes open. Dinner on Singapore River. All good. Heaps of lovely photos. Haven't discovered how to share them with you.

  2. Our first day in Dublin has dawned overcast and cold. Must be midsummer. Sooo glad we planned a recovery day after the 17 hour flight to get here. We officially meet our Insight bus tour group tonight so can spend the day dodging the showers and popping into the pubs for a pint to warm up. No you haven't missed any photos. It's too dark to take any!

  3. By the end of our first day at 8.30pm the sun is shining brightly and the skies have cleared. A perfect summer evening. Peter has deteriorated into a full on manflu and is proper poorly. This morning we walked for about 30 Mins into the nearest mall. Lovely walking these ancient streets and through St Stephens Green. I found the most delightful hair salon and could walk straight in. Peter found a chemist shop & organised an Irish Simcard. I discovered that none of my credit cards nor my cash passport worked with any of the 3 banks I tried. So the subsequent walk through the adjacent streets was not as joyous as it should have been. Then the half hour walk back to our hotel with the weather improving and Peter deteriorating to discover that the work on the hotel renovations was directly outside our room and totally untenable. After Peter expressed his wrath we were moved to the back of the hotel 3 floors up. He went to bed and I struggled with the technology of my 3 cards. After an hour of battle with my security codes, I gained access.to one of my accounts. That makes the next 7 weeks possible.
This evening we met our group of 40 internationals and I sat next to a woman and her daughter from Hillcrest. Unbelievable!!!! However I sat opposite an Indian astrophysicist professor from Texas. He may turn out to be good value. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Tomorrow we leave at 8.20am for a tour of Dublin and I have booked myself for a dinner & Irish show at night.
hope you're able to access this blog. A friend tells me you can't respond unless you have a special code.
