Canada

Canada, 2017
Seriously starting to think about flying out of Auckland on Tuesday 20 June to arrive in Vancouver an hour before we left Auckland. How's that for time travel.  We'll be in Vancouver for 9 days so I shall try to keep you posted with our fun each day.  Just may be having too much fun to manage a daily posting but will see how we go. I know some of you are thinking you may do a similar trip to ours so let's hope I can inspire you into it.
Next posting 20 June from Vancouver.

  2. Vancouver: 20 June
We left Auckland about 30 mins late and almost immediately ran into turbulence lasting 2 hours preventing any food or drink service. Thank goodness we work on the Garfield principle of stocking up at every available opportunity. We had dinner at the airport at 5.00 just in case. We felt sorry for all the other passengers who got nothing until about 10.30pm. Gradually the atmosphere quietness and we flew relatively peacefully for the next 11 hours. Sleep was not on offer because of the fractious youngsters on our packed flight. However we were very happy about paying more for seats by the bathroom galleys giving us comfortable legroom - a poor man's premium economy.
Vancouver customs procedure was a digital self-service with a few charming officials to welcome us. Then into a taxi for the 30 minute taxi trip to our airbnb accommodation in the CBD. All too easy. The came the hard bit. The person delegated to greet us and let us in did not materialise. An increasingly frantic 2 hours followed while Peter tried to make contact with him. Aha. Success. He is in Indonesia. And so we continued. As you will see from fbit all turned out alright in the end and we are now happily tucked up in our little unit. Apparently it has been raining continuously for the last 6 days but today is fine though chilly. Bed is beckoning. Peter will join me I'm sure just as soon as he has had his coffee and maple syrup biscuits.
